This is a public event that is free of charge.  This program was made possible with Arts & Cultural Heritage Funds from Minnesota’s Clean Water\, Land\, and Legacy Amendment.

SUMMARY:Summer Art Intensive
DESCRIPTION:The WOW is partnering with the Edina Art Center for a four day comprehensive metal casting youth camp (ages 12-17).\nThe WOW team takes each artist through the entire process of casting metal – from safety gear to surface treatments – and demonstrates just how accessible this ancient process can be.  It’s hands-on\, interactive\, exciting\, empowering and collaborative work.  This is a fun class to experience two methods of sculpting (additive\, subtractive)\, three methods of mold-making (rubber\, cuttle-bone\, resin-bonded sand) and two metals (pewter\, aluminum). \nAugust 11 – 14\, 10am-3pm. \nRegister below on the Event Website link.\nScholarships Available through the Connect Card Program

Learn more about water at the newly renovated Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo\, alongside the many animals that call it home there. \nCast Metal Make + Take\nScience and art walk hand-in-hand as you transform your vision into a tangible creation.  Choose from a variety of “We Are Water MN” themed silicone molds – North American River Otter\, Bald Eagle\, water molecule – from natural elements\, 3d prints and found objects for you to cast your own small sculpture or wearable.  Experience the transformation of liquid metal into a solid casting – choose your mold\, pour metal\, watch as it becomes a solid and pop it out!  For ages 5 and up. No experience necessary. \nThe We Are Water Traveling Exhibit\nThe traveling exhibit examines water issues statewide and in local communities through personal stories\, histories\, and scientific information. It strengthens Minnesotans’ relationships with water\, exposes visitors to new perspectives\, and increases participation in water stewardship activities. \nWe Are Water MN deepens connections between the humanities and water through a network of partnerships\, a traveling exhibit\, and public events. DESCRIPTION:Cast Metal Make + Take \nCelebrate “We Are Water MN” with the WOW Mobile Metal Lab\, a city bus turned cast metal sculpture foundry.  Choose your casting from a selection of water themed molds created from natural elements\, 3d prints and found objects to cast your own wearable or small sculpture.  You pour the metal\, do minimal filing and attach wearable hardware or sculpture base.  No experience necessary.  Ages 5 and up. \nWe Are Water MN deepens connections between the humanities and water through a network of partnerships\, a traveling exhibit\, and public events. We Are Water MN helps communities\, organizations\, and individuals make better\, more collaborative\, and more relevant choices about water. \nWe are Water MN is a project of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and the Minnesota Humanities Center in partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society; the Board of Water and Soil Resources; the Minnesota Departments of Agriculture\, Health\, and Natural Resources; and University of Minnesota Extension. \nWe are Water MN is funded by the Clean Water\, Land\, & Legacy Fund that was created with the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4\, 2008.
