SUMMARY:Cast Your Metal RBG Dissent Collar Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Every collar has a story……come and cast yours. \nInternational Women’s Month has us honoring and celebrating many women from around the globe.  In this workshop\, we are remembering Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her history breaking accomplishments here\, in the US\, and  internationally. \nCreate your design (or choose one from the collection)\, carve into a cuttlebone mold and pour lead-free pewter to make your dissent collar sculpture\, necklace\, brooch\, bolo tie\, hat pin or what-have-you?! Ages 10+.  No experience necessary.  This workshop will be in the Casket Arts Factory (not on the WOW bus). \n“You know\, the standard robe is made for a man because it has a place for the shirt to show\, and the tie\,” Ruth Bader Ginsburg said. “So Sandra Day O’Connor and I thought it would be appropriate if we included as part of our robe something typical of a woman. So I have many\, many collars.”  RBG began to be selective with her collar choice for the day as to convey a subtle meaning\, and\, as we like to think\, about her political communication with her jabot choices. \n

SUMMARY:Cast Your Metal Nano-Machine Structure
DESCRIPTION:Today is the day to cast and create your own Nano-Machine! Pour metal into molds and design your own protein structure casting – that could enable you\, others\, living organisms (bacteria\, plants\, animals) – to do anything. Imagine and wonder\,  if you could create a protein – a building block for a cell \, a structure to provide a specific biological function – what would you design your protein to do? I’m excited to share my interactive sculpture project that I’m creating for the Hormel Cancer Research Institute\, information about their CryoEm microscope\, and PROTEINS – the fundamental building blocks of all life on earth\, at the atomic level! Thank you to the Hormel Institute\, Austin Area Arts and the Minnesota State Arts Board. \nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
